making bold steps forward

A local restaurant in Petersburg needed a rear stair for egress into an urban alley. Since the site is very visible from a one way public street, the goal was to make a striking sculptural form that reads like a silhouette against the existing white painted brick wall. The entire stair is made of steel plate folded or welded together to create an origami-like visual expression in Black and White exploring the relationship of point, line, plane, and volume.

It was custom designed in one week by Enteros Design and fabricated by a local welder, delivered to the site, carefully positioned, shimmed, and bolted into place.

Here’s proof that no project is too small for good design and bigger ideas!
