abandoned tenant house near the NC/VA border
Adaptive reuse concepts by now have nearly transformed all of the massive brick tobacco warehouses in Richmond on the James, Danville on the Dan, and Petersburg on the Appomattox rivers into modern loft dwellings. Perhaps the next generation of “adaptive reuse” will be our rural towns and farm houses as “rural infill.” Where else shall we go?
So, don’t overlook the most humble of places as an opportunity to invest and renew yourselves and make an authentic place in the landscape called home in the (old) frontier of our grandfathers’ footsteps.
